Abstract
War as a social phenomenon is constantly undergoing transformation. Under the influence of various factors, the forms and principles of armed struggle change, as well as the ways and means of its conduct. One example of the forms is irregular actions that have been preceded by guerrilla activities, which have accompanied wars from antiquity through the Middle Ages to the present. Although ignored in recent years, with the restoration of the Territorial Defence Forces, the term returns to tactics in the form of unconventional activities. Specific forms and ways of performing irregular actions determine their use in specific combat environments. With continued urbanization, it is possible to assume that urbanized areas will be used in combat operations. The article discusses the theories and characteristics of irregular ac- tions, focusing on the impact of the specific characteristics of the urbanized area on the opportunities for action. Finally, the author draws general conclusions concerning the specificity of conducting irregular actions in urba- nized areas.
