The application of electromagnetic methods for polymetallic prospecting in mining conditions
Journal Title: Geology, Geophysics & Environment - Year 2017, Vol 43, Issue 3
Abstract
The paper presents selected results of geophysical surveys carried out in the copper mine named “Polkowice-Sieroszowice” in Lower Silesia, Poland. The aim of complex geophysical measurements was the analysis of the usefulness of selected electromagnetic methods for locating ore mineralisation zones in mining conditions. The results were obtained from surveys conducted along profiles designed on the side-wall by the roof, in the middle and by the floor of the excavation. Electromagnetic Profiling and Ground Penetrating Radar techniques were applied for outlining the mineralisation zones consisting of Cu, Pb and Fe. The variability of geophysical recordings depending on the degree of mineralisation and distribution of fractures induced by mining activity were analysed. The results of geophysical surveys were correlated to petrophysical parameters and laboratory data concerning the percentages of Cu, Pb and Fe in samples taken from the side-wall at the survey site.

A characterisation of the geothermal potential of the Muschelkalk deposits’ location, with the prospective of its utilization in balneology and recreation (southern Poland)
Analysis of the geothermal potential of the Muschelkalk deposits was carried out from the point of view of utilising hot groundwater in balneology and recreation. As a result of a number of analytical studies, the area s...
Deterministic and probabilistic approaches to the denomination of the hydrochemical type of potentially medicinal groundwater from the “Zdrój Główny” intake (Krzeszowice, Poland)
The analysis and quality control of potentially curative water in Krzeszowice (Lesser Poland Region, Poland) has been carried out since 2002. The analyses are performed in the certified Hydrogeochemical Laboratory of the...
Visualization of mining and geological data based on coal mine KWK “Knurów-Szczygłowice” Ruch “Knurów”
The aim of this work was to create a 3D model of underground workings of fragment coal mine KWK “Knurów-Szczygłowice” Ruch “Knurów” for 550 m and 650 m level. The 3D model has been developed on basis of the digital, two-...
