The Archetypes of the Ukrainian Mentality: a Socio-Philosophical Analysis

Abstract

The article focuses on a national mentality as a heterogeneous nature spiritual and intellectual phenomenon, which combines conscious and unconscious (subconscious) components. The main archetypes of the Ukrainian mentality are analyzed as the Ukrainian nation existential aspects genesis, which were formed over the centuries in accordance with the geographical position, natural and climate conditions, history and a number of other factors. The peculiarities of the archetypes formation of the Ukrainian mentality and their influence on socio-cultural phenomena and on the social and political life on the whole are investigated. Among the main Ukrainian mentality archetypes, that determine specific features of the Ukrainian national character, stereotypes of their behavior, emotional and sensual reactions and so on are highlighted: earth archetype, personal freedom archetype, mother archetype, fate archetype, past domination over the future archetype, poverty archetype, equality of the sons and daughters of their Motherland archetype, education archetype, ritual archetype. The features of the Ukrainian mentality archetypes formation and their influence on the sociocultural phenomena and on the social and political life are presented. It was concluded that society, as a kind of living being, does not forget anything, all historically obtained information is transformed into genetic experience and is transmitted despite the people’s desire consciously and unconsciously from generation to generation in a certain "ancestral memory", traditions and so on
