The austral hake fshery in Puerto Gala and his surroundings. The flux of merchandise as constituent of settlement

Abstract
This article emerges from seven months of ethnographic feld work, conducted in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, by a study team composed of members of the core of insular reality research at the University Academy of Christian Humanism, Chile. This project’s objective was to describe the social and economic aspects of life in the Puerto Gala Islands in Chile’s Aysen Region. Based on an economic anthropology analysis (Lifecycle of things) this text describes artisan fshing, focusing on both the techniques used as well as the diverse problems associated with its market. The study emphasizes local perspectives, extraction/production; however, it also takes into account its subject’s connections of local economy whit national and international markets.
