THE CONCEPT HERITAGE IN THE ESSAY OF PAUL BAILEY ON THE ART OF CONSTANTIN BRANCUSI

Abstract
The article focuses on the analysis of the concept heritage verbalized in the essay of Paul Bailey on Constantin Brancusi with the cognitive-discursive methodology employed to reveal the structure and determine the functions of the investigated concept. It has been ascertained that the concept heritage is actualized in the essay as the structure consisting of the frames artist accepts national art from the nation, artist accepts (particular) cultural achievements from his ancestors, artist passes their personal artisitc achievements to the nation, artist passes their personal artisitc achievements to the mankind and artist does not accept heritage from the nation, as well as the conceptual metaphors cultural heritage is a material object, art is a tree and foundations of art are roots. Besides, it has been determined that the concept heritage performs in the essay the functions of informing, interpreting, and upbringing.
