The correlations of the Sanskrit category of dhvani with the modern poetics of subtext

Abstract
The correlations of the Sanskrit category of dhvani with the modern poetics of subtext are investigated in the paper. On the basis of the tractate “Dhvanyāloka” by Ānandavardhana the nature of dhvani and its peculiarities are examined, the methods for creating dhvani by poets are defined, and these theoretical materials are extrapolated to the modern literary theory. The knowledge of the specific of dhvani directs the paradigm of the research of the phenomenon of subtext in the modern literary studies, which is in the active stage of development.
