The criminalization of migration and the consequences of the global refugee crisis in Europe

Journal Title: Conjuntura Austral: journal of the Global South - Year 2017, Vol 8, Issue 44

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the criminalization of migration and the consequences of the global refugee crisis in Europe, especially in the European Union’s member states. It argues that this process reproduces itself through the restrictive border control, deportations, detentions, and xenophobic and racista practices that validate, in this sense, the violation of the human rights of these already vulnerable people.
