The Deficiencies of Turkish Students in the German Language within the Austrian School System

Abstract
This article is the outcome of a thorough survey of literature. The aim of this review is twofold: first to show the study results of PISA (2002; 2006), BIFIE (2008) and some other Projects about deficiencies of Turkish students in the German language in the Austrians school system; secondly to discuss some possible causes of this deficiency. The present paper may be seen as an attempt to show the possible socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds of the academic problems of Turkish students in Austria. Throughout this paper we shall also try to show a broad spectrum of the cognitive capacities and intuitive skills and eager to learn and explore of young children in the field of multilingual acquisition in light of neurolinguistics and findings from brain research. In the context of this paper i would like to draw attention to capacities of young Turkish children and try to offer solutions to this problem.
