THE DEVELOPMENT OF TURKISH FOLK LITERATURE STUDIES AND TURKISH FOLKLORE JOURNALS
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 42
Abstract
The development of Turkish Folklore and Folk Literature can be traced by examining both the folklore works whose roots are going back to early oral period of Turkish literature and the evaluations written on these products thoroughly. The development and change in this historical evolution process, from beginning till today, could be reviewed only through examining the works of folk literature and the studies on these works. The use of folklore as a new field of science in Turkey dates back to one century ago. In recent years, there are more publications based on newly improved and theorized folklore methods. Studying the Journals of folklore in which these evaluations and works take place together will not only save time for the researchers but also will give them a more convenient study environment. From this stand point, the development of folklore in Turkey has been studied in this article by examining the historical background as well as by following the improvement of folklore associations and the journals they have been publishing. Thus, for the readers interested in folklore and for the researchers who started to study on this field, following this improvement through these journals will be more than significant.
