The development tendency and the basic research method of <br /> Modern Hydrology<br />

Abstract
With the development of society, the research object and service target of hydrology changed rapidly and obviously. The key points of modern hydrology research have become as basic theory, hydrological response and its rule to environment change, the boundary of water cycle system, hydrological forecasting, hydrological observation and new experimental technology. Accordingly, the basic research method in modern hydrology should be innovated in the following four aspects: 1. to strengthen the guidance of holism; 2. to achieve the synthesis and breakthrough of induction and deduction; 3. to combine lumped style and distributed style; 4. to coordinate physical cognition with mathematical description.
