The Effect of 32 week Resistance Exercise on Serum C - Reactive Protein and Leptin Levels in Middle-Aged Women

Abstract
Background: Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in the world. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of resistance exercise on serum inflammatory markers in untrained middle-aged women.Methods: 24healthy female middle-aged were selected by convenience sampling method and were randomlydivided into two experimental (n=12) and control (n=12) groups. The exercise protocol included resistance exercise traininglasted for 8 months and 3 sessions per week and every session lasted for 60 minutes . Blood samples were taken to measure serum leptin and C-Reactive Protein (CRP) before and after training period. Results: The level of serum leptin in middle-aged women changed significant. However, the levels of CRP during his period changed significantly. Conclusion: eight months of resistance exercise induced significant change in serum levels of CRP, while leptin levels reduced in middle-aged women.
