THE EFFECT OF ORGANIZATIONAL FEAR ON SOCIAL CAPITAL (A CASE OF FIRAT UNIVERSITY)

Abstract
The fear that emerges as a reflection of the power is a two-dimensional situation. As scared and scary, the parties struggle for existence. Fear causes two kinds of action given by the person who the fear occurs in. The first is a struggle against the feared thing and the other is the passiveness of the individual who protects him/herself. The self-protection of the individual causes the communication to fail and the communication networks to be negatively affected. Modern organization structure and modernization have popularized the individualism, and the system in modern bodies and institutions has created a fear society. The communication networks that enable society to coexist and empower are deteriorated by individualization and fear. The communication networks that hold society together have the effect of facilitating the lives of the individuals. The high level of communication networks and social capital raises quality of life individually and makes it easier to reach macro targets socially. Because the existence and majority of the individuals with high level of social capital in society leads to the development of solidarity and confidence based on the mutual relations, cooperation and sensitivity to different issues between different parts of the society. In this study, the negative effect of fear on social capital was investigated. Thanks to this study, two neglected concepts in the sociology literature were allowed to relate to each other and this deficiency was tried to be solved. This study was carried out on the instructors of Fırat University. In this research conducted by the interview technique of the qualitative research method, the sample was formed with the maximum variation and snowball model. In addition, representations of all titles were obtained through the instructors.
