The Effect of Ractopamine on Broiler Chickens Fed with Low Protein Diet Supplemented with Crystalline Amino Acids with a Focus on Carcase Composition and Carcase Parts Yields in Broilers
Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 12
Abstract
The effect of Ractopamine on broiler chickens fed with low protein diet supplemented with crystalline amino acids was studied with a focus on broiler performance, carcase chractristics and carcase composition. On the basis of their body weight, ten day old female commercial broiler chicks (N=192) were used for a 21 day experiment. The study used a (3*2) completely randomized factorial design with 20, 18, and 16 percent dietary crude protein levels and 0.0 or 10 mg/kg of ractopamine. Body weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio were measured at the end of experiment. The chicks fed with crude protein diets fortified with excess essential amino acid exhibited significant increase (P>0.05) in body weight gain. At the same time, they exhibited a favorable decrease in feed intak and feed conversion ratio. No significant differences (P>0.05) were observed among the chicks treated 0.0 and 10 mg/kg rctopamine levels for body weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio. In conclusion, the study indicated that ractopamine supplemented with crystalline amino acids could result in a decrease of abdominal fat content and dietary crude protein down to 16 percent.
