THE EFFECT OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES ON FRETTING WEAR IN A CLAMPED JOINT

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2010, Vol 231, Issue 3

Abstract

The article presents the results of research on the effect of some surface finishing processes (rolling, nitriding, surface hardening, and molybdenum hardening) on fretting wear development in a clamped joint. The tests were conducted on the model of a wheel-axle joint of an axle set. It was proved that nitriding, hardening, or molybdenum hardening significantly restricts fretting wear expansion.
