The Efficacy and Safety of Enzyme Preparations in Terms of Evidence-Based Medicine

Journal Title: Гастроентерологія - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 49

Abstract

The article deals with one of the most commonly prescribed group of drugs in gastroenterology — a group of enzyme preparations. Data from studies of their efficacy and safety are given. Although high-quality randomized controlled trials supporting the efficacy of enzyme preparations, as well as the benefits of specific enzyme preparations are practically nonexistent, based on clinical experience, they should still be considered as an effective therapeutic agents of the correction of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and additional method for relief of pancreatic pain.
