The epidemiological profile of tuberculosis in indigenous population

Abstract

Set out to trace the epidemiological profile of tuberculosis in indigenous population. This study is based on the method of Integrative Literature Review (RIL). The search for articles was done in the Virtual Health Library database (VHL-Brazil) using the Controlled Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) combined: "Indigenous Population" AND Tuberculosis. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were adopted, identifying 45 articles from which they were selected 12 productions. It was found that 75% (n = 9) of the publications on tuberculosis in indigenous subjects presented the male gender as the most affected, 58.3% (n = 7) state that in the age group between 20 and 45 years is the most prevalent. There is also a pulmonary type domain (75%, n = 9), in indigenous people with low schooling (50%, n = 6). Based on the findings, it was verified the vulnerability of the indigenous population to Tuberculosis. This fact results from this population have several risk factors that contribute to the spread of this disease. Therefore, it is extremely important the knowledge of such data by the controllability organs of the health services of this population, in order to promote care in an integral and resolutive manner.
