THE ETHNICAL STRUCTURE OF MACEDONIA AND THE ALTERATION OF THE DEMOGRAPHIC IMAGE OF THE BALKAN UNTIL THE WORLD WAR II

Abstract
The position of the national minorities in the Balkan, until present, has not been fairly researched by the academic public. Thus, we can establish in this sense that the situation is particularly unsatisfied regarding the research of the Macedonian national minority in the neighbouring Balkan states. During the long historical periods, it is pretty obvious the existence of certain difficulties and obstacles in performing profound scientific research in this area. The conditions for conducting researches, not only in the past but up until present, are very specific regarding the Macedonian question in the neighbouring Balkan countries. Hence, this also is significantly reflecting on the elemental conditions and the materials/data that can be obtained, as well as to the research methods of certain environments, problems and periods. From present perspective, the situation and the conditions for scientific research on the life of the Macedonian national minority in Serbia, Greece, Bulgaria and Albania differs from one country to another country. There are obvious objective and subjective reasons of the enormous lag in terms of these investigations. It is consistently above the great asymmetry between the position of national minorities in Macedonia and the position of the Macedonian national minority in the neighbouring Balkan states.
