THE EVENTS OF THE REGIME IN TERMS OF PREPARATION FOR THE ELECTIONS TO THE USSR VR ON FEBRUARY 9, 1946 IN THE WESTERN REGIONS OF THE UKRAINIAN SSR AND THE REACTION OF THE POPULATION

Abstract
The article deals with the separate organizational and technical aspects of the preparation of the elections to the USSR VR in 1946 in the western regions of the Ukrainian SSR. The complicated social and political situation in the region and the difficulties of the authorities with holding the election campaigns are described. The opposition of representatives of the nationalist underground to events, organized by the eauthorities is demonstrated. The negative relation to the electoral process by the local population, which perceived Soviet democracy through the prism of European democratic standards, is revealed.
