THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE ELASTICITY OF MATERIALS (IN TERMS OF STRESS, STRAIN) AND TO FIND STRENGTH OF MATERIALS LIKE ALUMINUM AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES
Journal Title: International Journal of Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Fundamentals (www.ijeemf.com) - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The strength of a material is very concerned topic in mechanical engineering, so the main objective of this paper is to discuss about strength of materials like aluminum and find the elasticity of materials in terms of true stress and true strain. The present work laid stress on determining the tensile properties from stress strain curve by tensile testing of aluminum (specimen) at different range of high temperature The tensile testing is carried out on INSTRON static series 600 KN. The specimens were tested at different range of high temperature (Room Temperature -325 degree Celsius). True Stress and strain is calculated using the engineering equation. Using the values of true stress and true strain the true stress strain curve was plotted. Here the effect of temperature on strength of material is discussed in detail. Also the Lloyd Tensile Testing is discussed in this paper step by step.
