The features of legal regulation of international transport contracts

Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of issues in the field of multimodal transport, the legal regulation of the main provisions regulating relations in this area. The article defines the concept of multimodal transportation. The concept of multimodal transport contract is considered. The characteristic of the essential conditions of the contract of multimodal trans- portation was given. The main problems, which hinder unimpeded multimodal transportation, are investigated. The main directions of solution of problems of multimodal transportations are offered. Multimodal transportation is the kind of transportations which is made by the responsibil- ity of the one transporter for a single transport document, which uses two or more vehicles, for example rail transport and transportation. Today there is no single universal law which is regu- late multimodal transportation by various modes of transport. Existing international conventions have regulate mixed transport by only one mode of transport.The development of domestic mixed transportations is experiencing significant difficulties because of the low level of legal regulation of this issue. An important task for the further intro- duction and development of multimodal transportation in Ukraine is application of international multimodal transportation of simplified customs procedures and improvement of regulatory reg- ulation of multimodal transportation. One of the priority directions of development of legislation in the field of combined transport is the development and adoption of the Law of Ukraine “On Multimodal Transport”, which will facilitate the creation of conditions for attracting carriers.
