Abstract

The nature of humor won’t be absolutely clear to the person who doesn’t have in a certain measure sense of humor. In particular, it concerns such phenomenon as «the Odessa humor», which has absorbed itself the language and cultural traditions of all people living in Ukraine, and in this sense, the non-standard mental color, that breaks stereotypes of perception of the ridiculous expressions. The same phenomenon occurs with all natural languages, and it was described in «the hypothesis of linguistic relativity of Sapir – Wharf». According to this philosophical concept, all notions, that our human consciousness combines, as well as all essential features of our thinking are defined by the native language. Therefore the sensory perception of reality is defined by mental representations of the person. In its turn, mental representations can be changed under the influence of language and cultural systems. As in concrete language and, moreover, in the concrete culture concentrates the historical experience of the native speakers, the mental representations of various languages speakers sometimes cannot coincide. That is why «the Odessa humor» is so special and unique.
