The hero’s and antihero’s discursive behavior in American film discourse

Abstract
The article considers the hero and antihero as discursive personalities. Their discursive behavior is indicative of their characteristic systems of values and takes the form of certain strategies and tactics. The hero’s discursive behavior is represented by domination, discrediting, persuasion, establishing a closer relationship, supporting the addressee’s autonomy, distancing, finding direction, while the antihero’s typical strategies are domination, discrediting, and manipulation. The research looks into verbal and non-verbal means of implementing the corresponding strategies.
