Abstract
The article examines the origins and development of the institution of criminal procedure in crime prevention XIX – first half of the twentieth century. On the basis of the provisions of legal acts and scientific works of the author characterizes the features of crime prevention at each stage of the study period. Taking into account the positions of scientists determined the main directions of activity of preventive pre-trial investigation and trial.
