THE HISTORY OF THE RARE BOOKS SECTOR OF SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF ODESSA SOUTH-UKRAINIAN NATIONAL PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER K. D. USHYNSKY

Abstract
The article is devoted to the history of the rare books sector of Scientific library of South-Ukranian National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky. Represented the information on the personal collection of B. V. Varneke and P. O. Potapov. The topical issues concerning, in particular, the concept of «rare book» and «rare collection» are revealed. The attention is paid to the printing works of previous years, as well as to the covering of old editions, the binding of old editions, books with dedications. The rare editions of Ukrainian literature classic Taras Shevchenko are of great interest here. An excursion into the history of the book «Kobzar» is represented. An overview of the development of folklore studies as a science is described. There are materials on the development, establishment of theatrical art and ballet presented. The illustrated editions of books, which attended by prominent graphic artists of all the times, are described. The article illuminates the history of journalism, analyzes the works of well-known scientists of pedagogy. The attention is paid to the design of books and the development of lithography. The research in the history of the language and culture appearing of different peoples is revealed in the article. The books on religious themes are also illustrated. The article traces the history of Ukrainian philological thought presented by works of linguist. Т. Gorbach. It is about of reprinted, facsimile editions, which exactly reproduce the manuscripts of another era.
