The idea of independence of Ukraine in theoretical heritage of V. Lipinskyi

Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of the formation the political independence of Ukraine as necessary condition of existence of the Ukraine state. The idea of independence from ancient times was one of leading directions of social and political life. Problems of its origin, theoretical and organizational becoming, participation in national liberation struggle, roles and places in the processes of national revival have considerable scientific and political actuality. The author makes an attempt to analyze in brief the theoretical heritage of V. Lypynskyi – ideologist of the idea of independence. It outlines the main provisions of V. Lipinskyi’s political concept, his activities in the period of the national liberation struggle. One of the fundamental provisions of V. Lypynskyi’s political concept was the struggle for an independent, unified Ukrainian state. Special attention is paid to the political activities of V. Lypynskyi in the Union for the Liberation of Ukraine, the Ukrainian democratic-peasant party, the Ukrainian Union of farmers-statists. The author shows V. Lypynskyi’s position to the defeat of Ukrainian national liberation struggle in 1917-1921.
