THE IDENTITY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROFESSIONAL GROUP AS A RESULT OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN LEADER AND THE PRACTISING PSYCHOLOGIST

Abstract

The problem of the professional group development was investigated in the article. An attention was focused on the factors that could contribute to the development of the professional group, which manifests itself in the avoidance of stagnation in order, the professional status of the member of the team, the creation and the maintenance of the group values, providing the opportunities for personal self-expression to each member of the group. The role of the group leader in the process of team building and development of the team was determined. Also, the function of the psychologist in the process of team development was defined; the professional group on specific factors (a level of professionalism, size, age and gender organization, joint activity, autonomy, psychological compatibility, motivational sphere of cohesion of members, the presence of informal structure, and attractiveness for independent persons) was characterized. The ambiguity in the representation of the concept’s content in scientific works: from the professional group to the collective and the team was clarified. Hypothetically indicated the possibility of using these concepts as synonyms for the development processes of the professional group. The scientific positions on definition of the stages of the development of the professional group were presented; the main characteristics of these stages were defined: the formation of a group, the beginning of joint activity, the realization of the integrity of the group, the fulfillment of tasks, the disintegration of the group is possible. The attempts to clarify the role positions of the members of the professional group (in the aspects of creating ideas, accomplishing tasks, interacting with people) were presented. The conclusion that only under the condition of close cooperation of the group leader with the practising psychologist can accelerate the process of transforming a professional group into a team while retaining the most valuable of its employees and providing an opportunity for motivated members of the group to develop quality and competence relevant to their professional activities was made.
