The impact of digital agriculture construction on agricultural carbon emission
Journal Title: Journal of Henan Agricultural University - Year 2024, Vol 58, Issue 4
Abstract
[Objective] This study aims to explore the impact of digital agriculture construction on agricultural carbon emissions, tap the potential of emission reduction, and promote the development of lowcarbon agriculture. [Method] Based on the panel data of 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) in China from 2013 to 2021, this study analyzed the impact of digital agriculture construction on the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions by using the fixed effect model, and conducted the test of the action mechanism to explore the mechanism of emission reduction. [Result] Digital agriculture construction has a significant inhibitory impact on the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions. There is significant heterogeneity in the impact of digital agriculture construction on agricultural carbon emissions, with a significant emission reduction effect in the eastern and western regions, but not in the central region. Digital agriculture construction indirectly affects the inhibitory effect on the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions through the human capital of agriculture, and the inhibitory effect of agricultural technological innovation in the impact of digital agriculture construction on agricultural carbon emissions is not significant, while agricultural technology innovation has an insignificant inhibitory effect in the impact of digital agricultural construction on agricultural carbon emissions. [Conclusion] Measures should be taken to promote the close integration of digital agriculture construction and agricultural carbon emission development, develop digital agriculture according to local conditions, accelerate the development of new quality productivity, improve the level of agricultural human capital, and promote low-carbon agricultural development in an all-round way.
