The Impact of the Osteosynthesis Devices over the Trochanteric Area: Analysis Using the Finite Elements Method
Journal Title: Applied Medical Informatics - Year 2008, Vol 23, Issue 3
Abstract
The present research’s aim was to examine the ability to create an experimental model of the proximal femural region, to simulate the presence of an unstable intertrochanteric fracture line and an implant used for fracture fixation, using the finite element analysis. In addition, the PC software I used had the ability to examine the stress induced by static forces over the bone and implant and the deformation of the bone-implant assembly. The results are consistent and have clinical relevance, being useful in the choice of the implant design or implantation site in the operating area.

Unsupervised Multimodal Magnetic Resonance Images Segmentation and Multiple Sclerosis Lesions Extraction based on Edge and Texture Features
Segmentation of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) lesions is a crucial part of MS diagnosis and therapy. Segmentation of lesions is usually performed manually, exposing this process to human errors. Thus, exploiting automatic and...
Characterization of retinal vessels by fractal analysis: its importance in pathology
The retinal circulation is the only part of human circulation that can be directly observed by ophthalmosopy. By this assessment, a lot of connection between the appearances of retinal microcirculation has been already e...
Tooth Enamel, the Result of the Relationship between Matrix Proteins and Hydroxyapatite Crystals
Enamel, a structure of epithelial origin, represents a protective tooth cover. The cells responsible for the formation of enamel, ameloblasts, are lost at the time of tooth eruption, so that enamel becomes an acellular s...
Experimental Model for Retrospective Assessment of X-Ray Exposures in Dento-Maxillary Radiology Measured by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance in Tooth Enamel
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) dosimetry of human tooth enamel has been widely used in measuring radiation doses in various scenarios. For experimental purposes in X-ray diagnostic or therapy human persons can not...
