THE IMPACT OF THE RANDOMIZATION OF THE QUANTIZATION ERROR ON THE ACCURACY OF MEASURING SYSTEMS APPLYING A DIGITAL MEASURING ALGORITHM
Journal Title: Metrology and Measurement Systems - Year 2005, Vol 12, Issue 2
Abstract
In measuring systems applying a digital measuring algorithm, the measurement process is divided into two stages: Stage 1 consists in the acquisition and storage of the system's input data, based on which the value of the measurand is estimated in stage 2. The uncertainty of the stored data is translated into the uncertainty of the result of the estimation, i.e. of the result of the measurement. When analog-digital conversion with a dither signal is applied in the data acquisition system (DAQ), the quantization error is modified and the uncertainty is reduced. The present paper discusses the mechanism of the modification of the quantization error and describes the characteristics of the uncertainty of a DAQ system applying a-d conversion with a dither signal.

NUMERICAL ANALYSYS OF THE INFLUENCE OF ASYMMETRIC DEFORMATION OF THE VELOCITY FIELD ON METROLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE ORIFICE
A change of the stream direction during a flow through a single elbow or their system causes asymmetric deformation of the velocity field. If two elbows are located in various planes, also a stream swirl can occur. The i...
SIMULATION OF VORTEX STREET DEVELOPMENT USING MODEL WITH MODIFICATIONS
Two modifications of the analytical model of the vortex street development described in [1] have been proposed and simulated. The first one takes into consideration the movement of the stagnation region accordingly to vo...
ACCURACY ANALYSIS OF WIM SYSTEMS CALIBRATED USING PRE-WEIGHED VEHICLES METHOD
Accuracy of WIM (Weigh-In-Motion) systems depends on several factors, of particular importance is the calibration procedure. Parameters of the calibration process have essential influence on accuracy of weighing results....
AN ITERATIVE PARAMETER ESTIMATION METHOD FOR OBSERVATION MODELS WITH NONLINEAR CONSTRAINTS
This article presents a parameter estimation algorithm for observation models with nonlinear constraints. A prominent example that belongs to this category is the continuous auto-calibration of stereo cameras. Here, our...
NONLINEAR CURRENT OSCILLATIONS IN A JOSEPHSON JUNCTION WITH FRACTAL RADIOISOTOPE COMPOSITES
We present a new form of the Josephson junction with dielectric layer containing radioisotopic inclusions. The presence of additional generators of ionization in a semiconducting material (due to α - particles emitted by...
