Journal Title: International Journal of Management Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 8

Abstract

Since transportation can be one of the facilitators of integration among the member states of a geographical region and also because of the common need of these regional countries to this transportation system, it can be a vital factor for integration. This has been resulted clearly from this reality that these countries have no waterways and no access to the high seas: "the enclosed area of land". So if we consider trade and business as the essential factors for economic development and social welfare, then through providing easy, safe and cheap transportation, due to their geographical locations, these countries can reach to lots of their economic and commercial needs. Because of many reasons, Unfortunately ECO hasn`t stepped enough toward political convergence but as the economic and political demands of these states depend on the globalization, the member states of ECO organization have taken influential steps toward providing integration, namely transportation. It has to be said that until recently different contracts for transportation have been signed, but because of political reasons and thoughts, these contracts haven`t become feasible or are going forward slowly. Despite different political outlooks among them, it seems that if ECO members reach an understanding about integration politically and economically, they can have more accomplishments. Geopoliticians believe that one of the most important factors of integration is firstly the understanding of integration. This article seeks to answer this question that how transportation will strengthen integration among ECO members? The Hypothesis of this article is that road and railroad transits in the ECO region are one of the most important factors for integration. The methodology of this article is descriptive analytic and it`s theoretical framework is integration.
