THE IMPACT OF WORKPLACE BULLYING ON TURNOVER INTENTION: A RESEARCH ON STAFF WORKING IN HOSPITALITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISES

Abstract
This research mainly aims to investigate whether staff ‘exposure to workplace bullying, who are working in hospitality business enterprises located both in Palandoken ski centre and city centre in Erzurum province has an impact on their intention to leave the job or not. In this vein, by applying Negative Act Questionnarie (NAQ) developed by Einarsen, Raknes and Matthiesen (2009) and Turnover Intention Questionnarie developed by Mobley, Horner and Hollingsworth (1978), the impact of workplace bullying on turnover intention was investigated in order to measure staff’ exposure to workplace bullying. The questionnarie form was conducted on 391 staff working in different departments of hospitality business enterprises. As a result of the research, it was found out that; they were not exposed to workplace bullying so often. However, they were subjected to overwork occasionally. In addition to this, regression analysis was run and as result; it was found out that there was a positive relationship between bullying with physical intimidation which is one of the sub-dimensions of workplace bullying and turnover intention. Lastly, this research found out that staff can leave the job in some certain situations such as threat of violence, attack to personal space and being yelled.
