The importance of monitoring the quality parameters of surface water and ground water in order to treat them for obtaining potable water
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2008, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
In the sustainable management of natural and artificial resources, the management of drinking water has a very important and direct impact on the population`s health. The analysis of the organoleptic characteristics, physical, chemical and bacteriological analysis in relation to the quality conditions as recorded in the specific rules is a way to prevent biological disasters that may produce the water in the field of infectious and non-infectious pathology. In this paper we present issues related to the monitoring of the main physical-chemical and bacteriological parameters of raw water used as source in water treatment plant from Bistrița City as well as undeline the need to improve methods for cleaning water destinated to human consumption, food industry and aquaculture.

Considerations upon energetic efficiency of a recirculating aquatic system (RAS) for super intensive fish culture
The efficiency of the aquaculture using recirculating systems depends on many factors among which the most important it is the energy consumption of the system. To assure a high level energy conservation in an aquatic re...
Physiological response of the intertidal copepod Tigriopus japonicus experimentally exposed to cadmium.
The intertidal harpacticoid copepod Tigriopus japonicus is a benthic copepod and has been commonly used in ecotoxicology and environmental genomics studies as a marine model species. In this study, Laboratory experimen...
The influence of pellets quality on the growth of sterlet, in recirculating aquaculture system
The paper presents some aspects regarding the influence of food quality on the breeding of sterlet, Acipenser ruthenus Linnaeus, 1758, in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The experiment took place over 30 days,...
Studies on the physico-chemical characteristics and nutrients of a tropical rainforest river in southeast Nigeria
Investigation of the variations in fifteen physico-chemical variables and three nutrients in three stations along Ikpa River, Nigeria were conducted between March 2009 and February 2010. All the parameters measured showe...
Immunomodulatory effects of turmeric, Curcuma longa (Magnoliophyta, Zingiberaceae) on Macrobrachium rosenbergii (Crustacea, Palaemonidae) against Vibrio alginolyticus (Proteobacteria, Vibrionaceae
Macrobrachium rosenbergii is being favored for farming due to its large size. However, like other crustaceans, it is also prone to bacterial and viral infections. Turmeric, a derivative of the plant Curcuma longa, is a s...
