Abstract

In the article the directions of improvement of management of credit activity of the bank are considered. The analysis of the current state of credit activity, which showed the main reasons for low lending activity of banks, revealed problems of reducing the profitability of bank lending operations and increasing the level of credit risk. The issues of loan portfolio risks and the need to create an adequate methodology for their assessment are considered. Identified important moments in the management of bank lending activities that can qualitatively change the state of management. It is substantiated that the main task for banks is a comprehensive assessment of future borrowers’ creditworthiness and constant monitoring of existing problem loans. It has been established that using methods of estimating the quality of potential borrowers by means of various statistical models should take into account a number of factors of influence and observance of principles that will help, with their observance, reduce losses from risky lending operations and raise the level of economic security of the bank.
