THE INFLUENCE OF BIBLE TRANSLATIONS ON THE FORMATION OF NATIONALLY-PRECEDENT BIBLICAL IDIOMS: ENGLISH-UKRAINIAN CONTEXT

Abstract
The article sets out to examine factors of forming corpora of nationally precedent biblical phraseology in English-Ukrainian opposition and issues of translating nationally-marked biblical idioms. It is argued that the divergence of Biblical phraseology in the languages contrasted results from the specificity of national translations of the Holy Scripture. Special attention is devoted to polygenetic biblical idioms, which are associated with the interpretation of the Bible source in authoritative statements and classical works of verbal and synthetic arts rather than with the Bible itself
