THE INFLUENCE OF ENERGY CONDITIONS OF SURFACE LAYER ON THE WETTABILITY OF STEEL BY ACTIVE AND INACTIVE LUBRICATING MEDIUMS

Abstract
The influence of energy conditions of steel 15 surface layer on its wettability by surface active and non-active lubricating mediums was presented in this article. Energy conditions were estimated on the basis of the analysis of free surface energy changes calculated (with polar-dispersive method) upon static wetting angle measurement. Wettability was characterised by the observation of static wetting angle for four lubricating mediums: paraffin oil, Tranself EP oil, and SN-400 oil with and without Mind M additive. It was found that the increase of free surface energy influences the improvement of the wettability of the steel surface by all lubricating mediums. Obtained results were the most evident for lubricating mediums with AW and EP additives.<br/><br/>
