THE INFLUENCE OF PULSE ANODIC PROCESS PARAMETERS ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE NANOCERAMIC AL2O3 SURFACE LAYERS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2014, Vol 256, Issue 4

Abstract

The paper presents a study on the influence of production parameters of Al203 nanoceramics surface layers on the tribological properties in cooperation with the PEEK/BG plastic. The Al2O3 surface layers were prepared by anodizing pulse method on an EN AW-5251 aluminium alloy base. Anodizing was carried out using rectangular pulse waveforms with a variable pulse frequency (1 to 75 Hz) and variable duty cycles of the current pulse (25 to 100%). The testing was carried out in sliding, oil-free cooperation with PEEK / BG plastic in reciprocating motion on the T-17 stand. The tribological tests were conducted under conditions corresponding to the operation of oil-free pneumatic cylinders. Tribological tests were complemented by surface topography measurements of Al2O3 layers by profilometer method using a Talysurf Series 2 stand. The results show that during the modification of the parameters of anodizing process’s current pulse, the parameters amplitudes of surface topography are reduced. The presented method allows the improvement of the tribological properties of the nanoceramics Al2O3 surface layers in cooperation with the PEEK / BG material.
