THE INFLUENCE OF TANGENTIAL STIFFNESS OF THE CONTACT ON FRICTION FORCE IN THE PRESENCE OF LONGITUDINAL TANGENTIAL VIBRATION

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2010, Vol 232, Issue 4

Abstract

The results of the numerical analysis of the contact tangential stiffness effect on the friction forces runs in the presence of longitudinal tangential contact vibrations are presented in this paper. In addition, the experimentally determined tangential stiffness characteristics of the steel-steel contact versus normal pressure for surfaces of various roughnesses are given. The numerical calculations were carried out in the Matlab-Simulink environment with the use of Dahl’s dynamic model of friction. The numerically determined runs of friction force for the contact of precisely defined tangential stiffness were compared with respective and experimentally determined runs for the contact of the same stiffness. A very good consistency of the experimental and simulation results was achieved.
