THE INFLUENCE OF THE ADDITION OF COLLAGEN ON THE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CHITOSAN CHLORIDE SOLUTIONS
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
Colloidal solutions of chitosan of crab origin with the addition of collagen obtained from cowhide were studied. Were presents the influence of collagen concentration and the method of preparing the sample on the obtained mechanical properties of the solutions and the observed phase transition temperature. Rheological measurements were performed to determine the viscoelastic properties and phase transition temperatures of these solutions. The study was conducted in the temperature range of 5–60°C with the use of classical techniques of rotational rheometry in the cone-plate measurement system. A significant influence of a collagen addition to chitosan chloride solutions on the viscoelastic properties of the systems was observed. The addition of collagen in all the cases increased the sol–gel phase transition temperature in comparison with the chitosan chloride solution containing β-glycerophosphate.

BIOPOLYMER COMPOSITES BASED ON LIGNIN AND MICROCRYSTALLINE CHITOSAN
The article presents method of extracting lignin from hardwood and softwood after chemical treatment. Lignin fractions were extracted from black liquid (the by-product of pulp and paper industry), in a different reaction...
PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINATION OF THE MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF CHITOSAN BY VISCOMETRY
The aim of this publication is to facilitate the estimation of chitosan molecular weight (MW) in laboratories with no access to sophisticated analytical instruments, by applying the easily accessible and economical capil...
Studies on the Dyeing of Chitin and Chitosan with pre-metallised Dyes at Neutral pH
Both 1:1 pre-metallised acid dyes and pre-coppered direct dyes, but not 1:2 pre-metallised acid dyes, have been shown to readily dye chitin and chitosan from neutral dyebaths. With the 1:1 pre-metallised acid dyes the ad...
Use of Chitosan Film Coatings in the Storage of Carrots (Daucus carota)
Chitosan film applied to coat carrot slices affected metabolic changes that increased the content of total phenolic acids and flavonoids. Chitosan coating of carrot slices delayed the overripening process and, consequent...
