THE INFLUENCE OF THE PURIFYING PROCESS ON LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF COMPRESSOR OILS

Abstract
The influence of the purifying process on lubricating and physicochemical properties of compressor oils was tested. The objects of the study were oils from the central system of ammonia cleaning. The antiwear and extreme- -pressure properties were investigated by means of a T-02 four-ball apparatus. In addition, cleanliness, kinematic viscosity, and acid number were determined, according to the standards for compressor oils. It was concluded that the purification of compressor oils improves their lubricating properties and their acid number. Those improvements resulted from the removal of pollutants, mainly metallic particles, which are products of wear.
