THE INFLUENCE OF THE TYPE OF BASE LIQUID OF GREASES ON FATIGUE WEAR OF MODEL FRICTION COUPLES
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 237, Issue 3
Abstract
This work presents the characteristics of fatigue wear of the surface in anti-seizure bearing of model friction couple, lubricated with greases on the base of mineral oil and synthetic liquids. The influence of the lubricants on pitting of elements working in high loaded contact has been investigated, according to standard IP 300/82. The evaluation of anti-pitting efficiency of lubricants has been also done, comparing L10 i L50, the time after which 10% and 50% of the friction couples lubricated with investigated greases are damaged. It was concluded that the highest wear resistance of friction couples is assured by the plastic grease based on deep-refined paraffin oil or its mixture with sebacic acid diester. However acid diester synthetic oil shows a significant deterioration of anti-pitting properties in the comparison with other investigated greases.
