THE LIFE VALUES IN THE MINDS OF THE MATRICULANTS AND THEIR PARENTS IN THE MODERN UKRAINIAN SOCIETY

Abstract
The specific society system of the personality`s values is being formed at every stage of the society`s development. The research of the personality`s values is particularly actual in a situation of serious social changes. The individual values reflect the person`s attitude to a social reality. The life in the modern Ukrainian society is extremely complex and dynamic, that is why it is important to capture and understand the values which the young people follow. The main purpose of the article is the analysis and assessment of the significance of different life values in the minds of the prospective students and their parents. To achieve the goal the following objectives are proposed: 1) to identify the opinion of students about the priorities of different life values, 2) to identify the parents` opinion about the priorities of different life values. The students of Kharkiv universities and their parents were questioned. For each of the three groups of respondents (mothers, fathers and students) the values were ranked according to the degree of their importance. The results of the research are topical for higher education. It is important to identify the life values inherent to the marticulants for the purpose of forming the competent humanitarian disciplines and developing the important attitudes and values. The information on the parents` life values is necessary in connection with the fact that the latter were laid as a priority value strategies to their children in the socialization process. And this is the starting point for the applicants developing their personal identity.
