THE MALMQUIST PRODUCTIVITY INDEX – METHODOLOGY AND PRACTICAL APPLICATION IN HEALTHCARE

Abstract
The present article deals with the themes of efficiency and productivity in healthcare. One of the most widely used productivity indices, the Malmquist productivity index, is presented. We also comment on the methodology of this index and its application in healthcare. An empirical example of this index application and the interpreting of its constituent components are also presented.
