The meaning of human dignity in constitutional law

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the problem of human dignity which is viewed as a constitutional value and as a subjective right. Human dignity as a constitutional value plays a double role in law. First, that is the starting point, a certain horizon for other constitutional values. Human dignity is primary in relation to law (in particular, to right and freedom). It influences the law, but remains beyond or above the law. In this sense human dignity is an absolute value under the Constitution. Dignity as an individual right is an independent characteristics of an individual, his/her psycho-physical condition or current life situation. Dignity in this case is a kind of respect each individual is entitled to.
