THE MECHANISM OF BOUNDARY LAYER FORMATION INCLUDING TRIBOELECTRIC PHENOMENON

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 235, Issue 1

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to reveal the mechanism of boundary layer formation. Significant concentrations of electrified particles, ions and non-neutral particles appear in the friction zone in appropriate conditions. Above particles cause intensive triboelectric phenomena and form as a separate layer conducting electric current and generates particles of elevated energy in the sliding zone that influence the boundary layer.
