The Modern City: Factors of Formation and Perspective Directions of Development

Abstract
The author analyzes the typology of a modern city, which is based on the central role of the inhabitants of the city and the city community. The division of the modern city into such types as «green city», «smart city», «creative city» has shown the importance of taking into account modern factors of development of society: the spread of innovative technologies, environmental safety, and actualization of the culture industry. The formation of a modern city plays an important role in the cultural and historical factors. The construction of historical memory emphasizes the importance of historical monuments, events, figures. The process of de-communization has touched every Ukrainian city and had an emphasis on the national stratum. This was primarily aided by the Revolution of Dignity. Preserving the memory of the actual historical and cultural events becomes meaningful in creating new historical monuments. The image of a modern Ukrainian city is made up of its cultural and historical parts, which are especially attractive for residents and tourists. The results of some sociological studies have shown that the inhabitants are satisfied with their city; they want to live and work in it. The vast majority residents of Lviv are proud of their city and believe that their life depends on them. The inhabitants of Lutsk are also happy with their lives in the city. They think it’s comfortable and compact. Each city has its own development potential. Today, in order to achieve a better result, in our opinion, it is necessary to combine the efforts of the city community, authorities and business to solve the urgent problems of the city and implement joint projects to improve the work of city structures.
