THE MODIFICATIONS OF A T-21 TESTING RIG INTENDED FOR MATERIALS AT HIGH TEMPERATURES

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2014, Vol 258, Issue 6

Abstract

In high-temperature tribological testing of elements, in particular ceramics or coatings, there are a wide range of technical problems. The main technical problems include the method of fixing of the test specimens and the temperature stabilization of the surface layer of the test elements during the test. Unfortunately, each of the existing solutions used in commercially available devices has drawbacks. The paper presents original solutions involving a change to a method for the fixing of test elements (balls and disks) and the setting and temperature stabilization in the test chamber. The solutions developed were used in a T-21 ball/pin-ondisc tribotester. The verification tests have confirmed the correctness of the solutions adopted.
