The Numerical Investigation of Aerodynamic Structures of Truck and Trailer Combinations
Journal Title: International Journal of Automotive Engineering and Technologies - Year 2015, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
In this study, aerodynamic structures of the heavy vehicle consisting of truck and trailer was investigated with computational fluid mechanics method. The force measurement were performed on the model car and aerodynamic drag coefficient (CD) were determined numerically in 4 different speeds on the Fluent® program. Numerical analysis of flow were made on the 59 000 - 844 000 Reynolds number. The effect of trailer additional to truck was determined to aerodynamic drag coefficient. The friction and pressure induced distributions were determined of total aerodynamic resistance. The images of flow structure were obtained around the truck trailer. The zones that was forming aerodynamic resistance were determined.

Effect of cottonseed oil methyl ester on the performance and exhaust emissions of a vehicle
The present work investigates the impact on vehicle performance and exhaust emissions from vehicle when using 100% diesel with petroleum origin (fossil diesel), compared to a mixture of 2-5-100% cottonseed oil methyl est...
Improving Aerodynamic Performance for a Reliable Wiper System
In this study, it is aimed to simulate aerodynamic forces acting on the windshield wiper system on a simplified geometry at different blade angles. Numerical simulations reveal that at critical blade angles, undesired li...
The Effects of Apricots Seed Oil Biodiesel with Some Additives on Performance and Emissions of a Diesel Engine
The purpose of this experimental work is to investigate influences of using manganese (Mn) as a combustion catalysts on apricot seed oil based biodiesel production and its engine out parameters. The metal based additive...
Structural and contact analysis of disc brake assembly during single stop braking event
An automobile disc brake system is used to perform three basic functions, i.e. to reduce speed of a vehicle, to maintain its speed when travelling downhill and to completely stop the vehicle. During these braking events,...
Investigation of Echinops Kebericho Mesfin Seed Oil as a Biodiesel Production Feedstock: Opportunities From the Wilderness
The major energy sources of the world depend on coal, natural gasses and petroleum which are exhaustible and environmentally unfriendly. Biodiesel is a mono alkyl organic compound of long chain of fatty acids made of oil...
