THE ORIENTALIST AND OCCIDENTALIST SIGNS IN AHMET MİTHAT EFENDİ’S BOOK TITLED PARİS’TE BİR TÜRK (THE TURK IN PARIS)

Abstract
Ahmet Mithat Efendi is a writer who thinks on culture problems of his period. Ahmet Mithat Efendi, that writes about modernization, education, women, child’s subjects in his novels, look for a solution in local culture. Besides, he also take responsibility of local culture’s true telling. In this sense, his novel’s Paris’te Bir Türk is almost like defence and publicity of local culture. The novel is fictionalised -as opposed to west- from the point of local view this period’s Ottoman society and life. So, this novel presents remarkable contents about meet of west and east. In this study, this contents show up in explanation effort understanding west and east in Paris’te Bir Türk novel is argued in context of orientalism and occidentalism.
