The Origin and Development of Physical Training and Sport Movement in Civic Organizations of Bukovina (The Second Half of the XIX – Early XX Centuries)

Abstract

The authors analyzed and characterized the activity of civic organizations of Bukovina in the second half of the nineteenth – early twentieth centuries, which directly or indirectly developed in their actions various aspects of physical education of children and youth. In addition to the specialized studies, there have been considered the regional periodicals that highlighted the problems upbringing the younger generation, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and sports. The classification of the societies was developed based on their statutory activities.
