THE PEASANT REPUBLICS OF DNIPRO UKRAINE: THE CLASSIFICATION ISSUE

Abstract
The article provides a classification of the peasant republics of Dnipro Ukraine by political affiliation and areas of insurgent struggle. Peasant republics were the highest forms of peasant organization during years of the Ukrainian national-democratic revolution. However, they had no economic or territorial bases to become separate states. Their main purpose was to unite peasants to fight various enemies. Nationally oriented positions, which included such variation as the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR) models (the Kholodnyi Yar Republic, the Mliiv Republic, the Husbandry Republic of Vradiivka, and the Medvyn Republic) and the national-socialist formation (the People’s Republic of Vysunsk), dominated among the discussed communities. Moreo-ver, there existed republics with the Soviet-Bolshevik (the Bashtanka and Letychiv (Medzhybizh) Republics), the anar-cho-makhnovist (the Chyhyryn Republic), and the bandit-criminal (the Pashkivka Republic) orientations. Regarding the areas of rebel fighting and depending on the military-political situation in the region, some of repub-lics changed their «enemies». In general, it could be identified the anti-bolshevism (the Kholodnyi Yar Republic, the Mliiv Republic, the Husbandry Republic of Vradiivka, and the Medvyn Republic), the anti-denikinist (the People’s Re-public of Vysunsk and the Bashtanka Republic), and the anti-Ukrainian (the Pashkivka, Chyhyryn, and Letychiv Repub-lics) directions.
